Immerseus Detailed Strategy Guide (incl Heroic) for Healers
Immerseus is the first boss you will see in Siege of Orgrimmar and it definitely has some interesting mechanics, and some great mechanics for healers.
It is important for DPS to kill the Sha Puddles, as killing them removes the debuff from the boss, but for every Sha Puddle that reaches the boss, 75k raidwide damage goes out, which can rapidly overwhelm healers if DPS don’t pull add duty.
Tanks get a stacking debuff (lasting 45 seconds) called Corrosive Blast, which results in 600k damage in a frontal cone but also increases shadow damage by 300% for 45 seconds. Range and melee should ensure they aren’t standing in the cone, as it can be a one shot, even if at close to full health.
There are Sha Bolts which cause an AoE damage, so be sure you keep /range 5 throughout the fight. While an initial tick of 75k isn’t a death sentence, it hits for 75k every second if you don’t GTFO.
Healers will need to ensure they can either heal the Contaminated Puddles via their healing raid frames or have a plan to AoE heal them. They don’t take all that much healing in order to heal them up, but do make sure some of your healers are focus healing them, since removing the corruption stacks from the boss is important.
Healing the puddles is also important – and your range to the puddles being healed – is important since if you are within 12 yards of the puddle when it is fully healed, you will receive 25% mana and get an increased healing buff of 75%, and this stacks. So a great way to look like a rockstar on the healing meters.
Heroic Mode
The raid wide damage is significantly increased with 95k damage going out to everyone every time a puddle is absorbed by the boss.
It is important as the fight goes on that your DPS provide offspec heals for the later phases when there are many more oozes that need healing than DPS. Healers will be overwhelmed, especially if they don’t evenly spread out during the ooze phases, so every offspec heal helps.
It has a new mechanic called Swelling Corruption which damages any raid member who does a single target ability on the boss. It inflicts damage proportional to Immerseus’ current corruption level, so it is quite easy for a raid member not paying attention or following mechanics to kill themselves on this boss. They also will get a stacking debuff on them as well for 6 seconds, which rapidly increases with more attacks.
